Missing Mountains at the end of the world

Darwin Range Sea Kayak Expedition

Darwin Range Sea Kayak Expedition

The first day we pick up you on the airport, and once in the hotel, we will have a briefing about the trip, boarding all the aspects of the trip.

The next day, we board a ship, to our base camp. We will navigate all the day, following the Magallanes strait and Almirantazgo sound, to arrive to our base camp in Brooks bay.

Once in the fjords, you’ll spend the day´s paddling between glaciers, and sea mammals colonies.

Darwin Range have many very active glacier, and often massive chunks of ice will plummet into the sea below. Sea lions, Penguins and Leopards seals curiously poke their heads through the floating ice chunks to watch you paddle by, and often Some foxes and penguins wander the beaches and hillsides nearby.  What a perfect way to experience the massive glacial ice and the soaring mountains of the fjords… from the seat of a kayak!

The scenery is spectacular and the wildlife tends to be quite good.

You’ll get into outer Answoord Bay where you’re likely to encounter sea lions, sea otters, condors, plenty of sea birds and a chance to see whales.

We plane to pass our nights in camping, based in two campsites, from where, we will go to paddle and explore the area every day.

Our guides are experienced, well trained paddlers and naturalists.  This trip is not only a great paddling opportunity but also a great chance to learn about Alaska’s wildlife and natural history.

At the end of the trip, we will come back to Punta Arenas, from the some way.

  •  Highlights: Glaciers & Mountains and the missing mountains of Tierra del Fuego, Sea lions, Leopard Seals, King Penguins, Camping, hiking, and (depending the year season) King Crab.
  • Difficult Level: Advanced.
  • Itinerary: The trip start and finish in Punta Arenas. We pick up you in the airport, and meet in the hotel. Have a briefing, and the second day a boat transfer (full Day) along the Magallanes strait, and Almirantazgo Sound. We land in Brooks sound and pass a first day in our camp. From there, we will pass 10 days paddling along the Darwin Range, exploring and Camping in the fiords of the Darwin Range.
The day 11, the boat pick up us in the Answord bay, and come back to Punta Arenas. We will pass the last night in the hotel, in Punta Arenas, and the next day transfer to the airport.
